UV - Do you hang out with other writers?
MS - Yes, because occasionally we have to, certain things bring all the writers together, one of the things we do is a women's week in Provence Town MA, which is a great little gay community. We do book signings in October of women's week, you can look it up online. We meet people there, one of my friends, Joan Opyr who wrote a great book called "Idaho code" and her second book is coming out "From Hell to Breakfast". I actually designed the cover for her because I'm a designer by trade so I designed the cover of my own book as well. But she has become a great friend and we help each other out and we'll send each other things to read that we are struggling with, if we need a second opinion and also business advice too is good. Andi Marquette is another writer friend, I read her stuff she reads my stuff and we try to help each other out and I designed two of her book covers as well. MS - No, I really don't have the time to do that, I wish I did, I work a very busy job that keeps me hopping. I manage a designing department and I do alot of travelling for the company, so I can't really do that but in fact when I do travel for the company I actually get more writing done on planes, and trains and that kind of thing because I'm not doing my driving commute which takes up to four hours of my day. I wish I could write everyday but that is not the case.
Right now, I have a got a little break going on because my second book Liddy-Jean, Marketing Queen is in the editing phase and I've done my rewrites. Now I've got to get my publisher onto doing their looking over it and how and what they think I should rewrite again. It was a slow process and I was hoping to have that out by the first of this year, but, obviously it did not work out that way, we are into July. But I want it to be right and I don't want to take it out there when it's not right. Everytime I rewrite I think, thank God I did that, you know, it was horrible before, and then I go do it again, and I go, it was horrible before, I only thought it was good, I don't know how many times I'm going to put myself through that but I guess until I run out of time. |
