This is the first book in the Brenda Stange series. Entertaining and simply put an easy read. The cleverly inserted prologue sets the pace and tone of the book from the first page.

It has a tight plot, with enough mystery and supernatural to keep the reader turning pages. Brenda Strange is a likeable character. A young successful attorney, in New Jersey, who due to a near death experience persudes her girfirend to make a fresh start and subsequently buy a summer home in Tampa, Florida. They buy a run down, old Victorian mansion (Malfour House) in The Tides of Palmetto, a playground for Tampa's elite, only to find that the home holds dark secrets. Brenda has an unnatural connection to the house and suspicious incidents entice her to investigate the history of Malfour House. Brenda renews her PI licence. The results unravel horrifying events burried for over 74 years.

The author is a Tampa native, coupled with her knowledge of the history of South Florida add to the authenticity of the story.
