A Pirates Heart - Book Review |
|
I was very excited when A Pirates Heart by Catherine Friend arrived in the post box. I'm a fan of Catherine Friends other books and so was looking forward to what kind of adventure she'd dished up this time. I remember dressing up as a pirate for some birthday as a child and was looking forward to being immersed in the world of pirates for a while. I wasn't disappointed. Weaving between present time America and pirate time - 1715 in the Carribean, adventures and romance abound. The story tells of Emma Boyd's fascination with pirates and the legendary Thomasina Farris in particular. As a map thief plunders Emma's library of valuable pirate maps, her knowledge of this pirate comes in handy as she and private investigator Randi Marx go on adventure to track down the map thief. The two are at odds as Emma is obsessed with more information and insight on Tommy Farris, Randi has her eye single mindedly on the maps. The story takes us into the life of Tommy Farris as she fights for her life. All is not as it seems with both stories and Catherine Friend takes us through some unexpected twists and turns. I love Catherine Friends writing and I was not dissappointed. Her characters are enjoyable and likeable and she has such a great sense of humour and sense of timing. I did however find that there was a little too much romance and fantasy in the book for me and I would have perferred a little more adventure. I did enjoy the book however and those looking for romantic adventure will thoroughly enjoy it. Catherine Friends other books:
