Michelle say's - Buckle your seatbelts folks, this is one HECK of a RIDE. And I've warned you, you're not going put it down until it's finished, most likely at 4am in the morning. Kate Vincent, our herione is transported back to 1085. At first she thinks she has landed in the midst of an historical re-enactment until finally the reality of her situation hits home. She must find a way back, in this case back to the 21st century.

An excerpt from The Spanish Pearl by Catherine Friend - Page 27
"The fake sword in his hand curved nastily, but this concerned me less than the hungry way he stared at my knees.
"They're called 'knees,'" I said. The boy's eyes bugged out. Then it hit me. I spoke English. No wonder the two chain mail guys looked at me so stupidly. "Excuse me," I said in Spanish, "but I seem to be lost. Could I hitch a ride back to Zaragoza with you?"

This is a well paced, action packed adventure, romance and time travel mixed superbly to create a highly entertaining novel. Catherine Friend is an excellent storyteller with strong characters that will be etched in your mind long after you've finished reading the book. The bottom line is Catherine Friend is a talented writer and I hope to read many more books she writes.
