Close Enough

Part I, set in 1941, tells the story of Hilda Stenkiewicz, an eighteen-year-old girl who gives her illegitimate baby away to virtual strangers. To try to put her life back together, Hilda moves away from her hometown and finds herself falling in love with the landlady at her boarding house. Part II recounts the life of the child Hilda surrendered. Frannie Brewster, like the birth mother she never knew, finds herself drawn to love women. Unlike her mother, however, heartbreak seems to be her constant fate. Part III picks up Hilda Stenkiewicz’s story more than forty years after she gave her baby away. Hilda has never abandoned her dream of one day finding her child. With almost no clues to guide them, Hilda’s niece and nephew go in search of their cousin. They draw ever closer to finding Hilda’s offspring, but can they get close enough?
